Are you trying to get pregnant for quite some time now? Is that causing you a lot of annoyance because you have to buy so many pregnancy tests kits? If yes, we have a simple solution for you.
DIY pregnancy tests have been in practice for a long time and have proven as a handy way to find out if you are pregnant. The reason why people use home-made ways is that they are lighter on the pocket. The anxiety of trying to start a family makes you want to conduct a pregnancy test over and over again, and using household items will prevent you from going broke!
The scientific basis of a home-made pregnancy test with salt is very simple. When you are pregnant, your body makes a hormone called bHCG (human chorionic gonadotrophin) This hormone is detected by your regular pregnancy kits. Doctors also detect this hormone in your urine or blood to test for pregnancy.
Salt can be used to detect the very same hormone easily at home. It is not a hundred percent accurate test but it is good enough to let you test yourself in times of panic or anxiety. Imagine being late for your period, and running out of pregnancy test kits. Salt can help in saving you from the excessive stress.
Things needed to conduct a home-made pregnancy test with salt
- A spoon (wooden or plastic)
- Good quality salt
- A clean container ideally made of glass
How to perform the test
Take a clean glass container and collect your pee in it. Try to wake up early in the morning to collect the first pee of the day. Add a tablespoon of salt in the container. Close the lid and shake the container gently. Wait for a minute or two.
If you observe the appearance of white curdy material or flakes, congratulations! You are pregnant. If there are no such flaky or curdy particles in the container the test is negative. You can repeat the test the next day in the morning.
- It is not entirely accurate, so keep consulting with your doctor.
- Use good quality salt
- Clean the container thoroughly before use. Re-clean it if you plan on using it again
A tablespoon of salt in your pee can help detect pregnancy at home. This method has been used by our elders for centuries and can be conducted in 1-2 minutes. It is no replacement for a doctor’s appointment but it is good enough for when you are in a rush to check if you are pregnant.
